Rachel told me tonight, "Daddy, I think that for everyone that bought me presents, I should send them a card."

"You mean a thank you card?"

"Yes. If I make the card, will you make the envelope?"

"Sure I will."

This is her thank you note to all of you.

I can't believe you're turning 5 years old today. It's gone by too fast.

I was laying in bed last night thinking, "We only have 3 more cycles of this (5 years at a time)" and you'll be all grown up."

 

Five years used to be such a long period of time. Now it's just a blink of the eye...

You said to Mommy last night, "I don't want to grow up!"

I'm right there with you, baby girl...right there with you.

But I also can't wait to see the young woman you'll become.

Like I said when you were born...I never knew my heart could be full of so much love.

Happy birthday, my sweet girl.

I look forward to celebrating many, many more birthdays with you.

I'm very proud of Dad...he made this video by himself, with only a couple of calls to his technologist son!

I can't believe it's been a year already. 

It seems like just yesterday that I was holding you in my arms for the very first time, and here you are, a crawling, laughing, happy little girl that's turning a year old today.

Your mother and I are so excited to see what the next year brings for you.  We love you with all of our hearts.

It sounds so much nicer in Spanish, doesn't it?

Today, my mother turns 60. And just as she always tells me, "I'm not old enough to have a son that's ____ (whatever age I happen to be at the time)," today, I'm thinking, I'm not old enough to have a mom that's 60!

Since my sister already beat me to saying all of the lovely, sentimental things, I'll just say this:

I couldn't have asked for a better mom, a better Nana for our daughter (soon to be daughters), or a better family to have been a part of.

We love you, and miss you down here deep in the heart of Texas.

Today is Dad's 61st birthday. Sixty one, and still going strong.

This was the first time in several years that we've been able to celebrate Dad's birthday with him in person. It's so nice to have Mom and Dad down here for a few months, even if it is temporary.

Rachel is thoroughly enjoying her time with Nanna and Dodd, and I think the feeling is mutual.
